About the JEE Advanced Exam

The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) serves as a gateway for admission to a Bachelor in Engineering (B.E.), B. Tech, Integrated Masters, Bachelor-Master Dual Degree in Engineering, Sciences, or Architecture in premier engineering institutions, primarily the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced is renowned for its rigorous evaluation, and testing of candidates' comprehension, reasoning, and analytical abilities. The exam is the second stage after JEE Main and holds paramount importance as it determines admission to the esteemed IITs, making it a critical milestone for aspiring engineering students.

Eligibility Criteria:

To appear for JEE Advanced 2024, candidates must fulfill specific criteria:

  • They should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main 2024.
  • The age limit requires candidates to be born on or after October 1, 1999, with relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
  • Candidates can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Appearance in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination is mandatory, and candidates should have appeared for the first time in either 2023 or 2024.
  • Previous admissions to IITs through JoSAA 2023 are disqualifying.
  • Foreign Nationals are exempted from JEE (Main) 2024. However, they must fulfill other criteria, detailed on the official website (https://jeeadv.ac.in/foreign.html).

Important Dates

The examination is scheduled to take place on May 26, 2024 (Sunday) and will consist of two papers – Paper 1 from 09:00 AM to 12:00 PM IST, followed by Paper 2 from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM IST. Steps to Apply for JEE Advanced 2024

Aspiring candidates must undergo online JEE Advanced 2024 registration, which commences on April 21, 2024 (Sunday) at 10:00 AM IST and concludes on April 30, 2024 (Tuesday) at 05:00 PM IST. The official registration portal provides detailed instructions for a seamless registration process. However, the general steps to apply for the exam are as under:

1.    Go to the official JEE Advanced website: https://jeeadv.ac.in.

2.     Click on the registration link and fill in the required details.

3.     Complete the online application form with accurate information.

4.     Upload scanned copies of necessary documents.

5.     Pay the registration fee based on your category and nationality.

6.     Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.

  • 10th class certificate or birth certificate.
  • 12th class (or equivalent) certificate [for those who appeared for the first time for this examination in 2023 or 2024].
  • If the 12th class marksheet for 2024 is available, it must be uploaded.
  • Gazette notification showing the change of name if the candidate's name is not the same as in the 10th class certificate.

Note: Candidates applying for admission under specific categories such as GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, or PwD are required to submit the necessary certificates in the prescribed format during the application process. 

Admit Card 

The admit card for JEE (Advanced) 2024 including essential details such as the candidate's name, JEE roll number, photograph, signature, date of birth, address for correspondence, category, and details regarding the allocated exam centre will be made available on the official website from May 17, 2024 (Friday, 10:00 IST) to May 26, 2024 (Sunday, 14:30 IST).
